Please contact me if you are interested in any of my seminars. In- person presentations and video webinars can be arranged.
Ning -using social networks for transformative education
Ning is an amazing tool that helps you create a social network. It allows teachers create a supportive space to discuss new technologies and network with other teachers. It allows you to upload videos and pictures to keep your class presentations interesting for your students. It will help transform your classroom from a teacher- centered classroom to a student-centered classroom. It allows you to give each student his own webpage that serves as his e-portfolio. Every video or Powerpoint presentation they do can be uploaded to their webpage. Project examples will be discussed, and guides and rubrics will be offered.
Using Aggregators -How Netvibes and Pageflakes can change your life...and teaching
Want to allow your class to blog but find keeping track of it all daunting? Would you like to have an online home base for your students to access links, post to forums, and do research? Netvibes and Pageflakes have proven to be essential tools for organizing work, classes and my own interests. These aggregators are key for staying organized and keeping up with student networks, blogs and comments. Actual projects, networks and techniques will be discussed.
OneNote- the free application that can streamline your planning
OneNote can house everything a teacher needs. This application captures information, creates and delivers notes, projects, and presentations, and allows teachers to share them for easy classroom collaboration. Using this tool, all of my units, lessons, rubrics and multimedia are all stored and organized for easy use. Students can use OneNote to work together to create their own personalized learning materials containing pictures, video and text. Since it supports different learning styles, it is a useful collaborative tool.
Google Docs in the classroom- Get rid of all that paper once and for all
Learn how to use Google Docs in your class, even if you are not a Google Apps school. Lose the paper and see the "history" of work for every student. Google Docs is an easy-to-use online word processor, spreadsheet and presentation editor that enables you and your students to create, store and share instantly and securely, and collaborate online in real time. You can create new documents from scratch or upload existing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. I have successfully integrated Google Docs into both high school and middle school activities.
Blogging for student achievement
I've spent some time talking about blogging, but what does it really mean? This seminar focuses on two aspects of educational blogging. The first part is about teacher blogging and interacting with students. The second part focuses on coaching students to safely set up and build their own blog. Educational blogging is a growing trend among young people who are seeking to teach themselves about the world around them. Learn the ins and outs of how this teaching strategy will help build a reflective learner.
Inspired Action
Motivational for educators and staff, this presentation reviews the impact educators have on the lives of students and the community. It is a perfect presentation for the start of the school year or to boost morale. The theme of the story is redefining your inner compass and the miracles that can happen when you follow through on inspiration.
